Bomb Girls: The Movie – That’s a wrap!

It’s a bit of a bittersweet day when the Bomb Girls production team announced today that principal photography for Bomb Girls: The Movie has wrapped. Check out the official Twitter and Facebook for lots of photos and statements from the set during the last few weeks. There have been many sad moments, like Meg Tilly posting photos of the dismantled Corbett house, or Ali Liebert’s puffy-eyed face after saying her goodbyes to the cast and crew. There’ve also been happy moments of reunions and birthday celebrations or high-waisted pants. It’s been a fun ride for the fans, following all the on-set shenanigans despite the cancellation’s bitter aftertaste that still reverberates.

There’s more waiting in store now—first and foremost for Global TV to announce an airdate. Word of mouth is that it might be around February or March 2014. So take a deep breath, Bombshells, and be encouraged to produce many fan fictions, animated GIFs and fanart until then to tide us over into the new year. And most importantly: Keep sending us your V-MAIL so that we can expand our collection and let the networks know just how much the show is loved by fans all over the world!

And just for those who are getting excited to see Bomb Girls on the big screen, sadly we’re not talking about a theatrical feature film. Bomb Girls: The Movie will be a 90-minute TV movie (2 hours if you add commercials) to air on Canadian network Global TV. It will not be coming to cinemas, as much we’d all like to see that. There’s no word yet on whether Reelz or any other non-Canadian network will be airing it at a later point in time.

Bomb Girls Season 2 – Replacement of Faulty DVDs

We previously reported that the Canadian Bomb Girls Season 2 DVD boxset contains two faulty discs. The distributor Imavision has now announced that customers can get replacement discs. In order to have yours replaced, please contact their customer service at 1-800-667-7635 or info@imavision.com. The defective batch of yet unsold boxsets is said to have been recalled, and corrected versions should be in stores soon.

Victory Bandana and V-MAIL Update

Some of you may have participated in our Victory Bandana campaign earlier this year, where we sent 1,000 bandanas to Global TV in protest of the cancellation. We’ve all wondered what kind of impact that might have made. Bomb Girls producer Janis Lundman recently gave a statement that gives us an answer, indicating that our response to the cancellation played a significant part in making Bomb Girls: The Movie happen:

“The network knew there was such a huge fan base for the show and they wanted to find a way to continue the story,” said Lundman from the set of the project, which has a working title of Bomb Girls: The Movie.

That’s very encouraging news, and reinforces the importance of writing to the networks and making our voices heard. Which brings us directly to the…

V-MAIL UPDATE

VMAIL_WishOnTheMoonWe are happy to report that our repository of online comments has grown considerably and steadily. An amazing 3,077 comments have been collected so far, thanks to our fearless volunteers who all put their shoulder to the wheel.

Since the file has become so big, we have now split it into parts of 1,000 comments each:  part 1part 2part 3part 4complete file

Please keep helping us by voicing your opinion about the show so that we can add your comment to our repository:

Bomb Girls Canadian Season 2 DVD set faulty

It’s been reported that the Canadian season 2 DVD set currently in stores has two errors: The English audio track in episode 5 (on disc 2) is actually French—thus no English audio, and in episode 10 (on disc 4) the audio and video in the very last scene is out of sync.

If you already bought a set, there’s a good chance it’s going to be defective as well. The distributor Imavision hasn’t issued a statement yet. If you’d like to send a complaint or a request to replace your faulty discs, this is their e-mail address: info@imavision.com. (If you’re disappointed about the lack of extras on the season 2 DVDs, please add that to your complaint since it was Imavision who made this decision.)

In the meantime, amazon.ca has already pulled the season 2 DVD set from their stock. If you’re thinking about buying it, we would recommend that you wait until this has been sorted out because it’s likely that the whole first batch of DVD boxes is affected.

V-MAIL – A Good Investment For A Good Cause!

V-MailWe’re now introducing V-MAIL – a huge online collection of comments!

V-Mail, short for Victory Mail, was a method used in WW II for soldier correspondence. Team Save Bomb Girls have taken inspiration from this idea and will gather as many comments about the show as we can find, combine them all in one place, and thus create a huge online collection! This will not only show other networks that picking up the show would be a great investment, but this will be prominent as the ongoing legacy of Bomb Girls.

To do this, we need your help from the homefront!

All you have to do is voice your opinion about the show. You can do this in several different ways:

Your V-Mail message can be anything you like, from a simple, “Please bring back the show!” to a 10-page essay as to why the show is a rare gem in today’s television landscape. You write it, we collect it, and then make sure it gets seen by the execs at CBC, CTV, City and Netflix.

United we are strong! You write, we’ll fight!

If you wish to view the comments we’ve collected so far, this is the most current version of the PDF file. Of course we will keep updating it over time.
