Victory Bandana and V-MAIL Update
Some of you may have participated in our Victory Bandana campaign earlier this year, where we sent 1,000 bandanas to Global TV in protest of the cancellation. We’ve all wondered what kind of impact that might have made. Bomb Girls producer Janis Lundman recently gave a statement that gives us an answer, indicating that our response to the cancellation played a significant part in making Bomb Girls: The Movie happen:
“The network knew there was such a huge fan base for the show and they wanted to find a way to continue the story,” said Lundman from the set of the project, which has a working title of Bomb Girls: The Movie.
That’s very encouraging news, and reinforces the importance of writing to the networks and making our voices heard. Which brings us directly to the…
V-MAIL UPDATE
We are happy to report that our repository of online comments has grown considerably and steadily. An amazing 3,077 comments have been collected so far, thanks to our fearless volunteers who all put their shoulder to the wheel.
Since the file has become so big, we have now split it into parts of 1,000 comments each: part 1 – part 2 – part 3 – part 4 – complete file
Please keep helping us by voicing your opinion about the show so that we can add your comment to our repository:
- Tweet us or use the #SaveBombGirls hashtag
- Facebook comment us or the official pages
- Tumblr message us or post using the #Save Bomb Girls or #Bomb Girls tag

Bomb Girls Canadian Season 2 DVD set faulty
It’s been reported that the Canadian season 2 DVD set currently in stores has two errors: The English audio track in episode 5 (on disc 2) is actually French—thus no English audio, and in episode 10 (on disc 4) the audio and video in the very last scene is out of sync.
If you already bought a set, there’s a good chance it’s going to be defective as well. The distributor Imavision hasn’t issued a statement yet. If you’d like to send a complaint or a request to replace your faulty discs, this is their e-mail address: info@imavision.com. (If you’re disappointed about the lack of extras on the season 2 DVDs, please add that to your complaint since it was Imavision who made this decision.)
In the meantime, amazon.ca has already pulled the season 2 DVD set from their stock. If you’re thinking about buying it, we would recommend that you wait until this has been sorted out because it’s likely that the whole first batch of DVD boxes is affected.
V-MAIL – A Good Investment For A Good Cause!
We’re now introducing V-MAIL – a huge online collection of comments!
V-Mail, short for Victory Mail, was a method used in WW II for soldier correspondence. Team Save Bomb Girls have taken inspiration from this idea and will gather as many comments about the show as we can find, combine them all in one place, and thus create a huge online collection! This will not only show other networks that picking up the show would be a great investment, but this will be prominent as the ongoing legacy of Bomb Girls.
To do this, we need your help from the homefront!
All you have to do is voice your opinion about the show. You can do this in several different ways:
- Tweet us or use the #SaveBombGirls hashtag
- Facebook comment us or the official pages
- Tumblr message us or post using the #Save Bomb Girls or #Bomb Girls tag
- Email us at mail@savebombgirls.com or send a link to your blog or any other platform you’ve used to write a message
- Post on our message board
Your V-Mail message can be anything you like, from a simple, “Please bring back the show!” to a 10-page essay as to why the show is a rare gem in today’s television landscape. You write it, we collect it, and then make sure it gets seen by the execs at CBC, CTV, City and Netflix.
United we are strong! You write, we’ll fight!
If you wish to view the comments we’ve collected so far, this is the most current version of the PDF file. Of course we will keep updating it over time.
“Bomb Girls – The Movie” starts shooting today
Great news for all Bombshells, Shaw Media announced today that the “Bomb Girls – The Movie” shoot is underway. Let me cite their press release, which has all the pertinent information:
Muse Entertainment and Back Alley Film Productions in association with Shaw Media announced today that production has begun on Bomb Girls -The Movie (working title). The original BOMB GIRLS cast returns reprising their roles with Canadian Screen Award-winning actress Meg Tilly (as Lorna Corbett), Jodi Balfour (as Gladys Witham), Charlotte Hegele (as Kate Andrews), Ali Liebert (as Betty McRae), Antonio Cupo (as Marco Moretti), Anastasia Phillips (as Vera Burr), Michael Seater (as Ivan Buchinsky), and Peter Outerbridge (as Bob Corbett) reprising their roles. The two-hour film, from Emmy® Award-nominated executive producer Michael Prupas (The Kennedys, Bomb Girls) and Gemini Award-winning executive producers Adrienne Mitchell and Janis Lundman (Bomb Girls, Played, Durham County), is shooting in Toronto and Hamilton until November 20, 2013.
Bomb Girls -The Movie takes viewers back to Spring 1943, as the Battle for the Atlantic rages and an Axis victory seems inevitable. German U-boats patrol the ocean picking off ships, destroying much needed supplies and inflicting heavy casualties. The one hope the Allies have – production of newly developed sonar equipment – is moved to Victory Munitions when the British factories are bombed. Then, in the darkest hour of the war, a new and disturbing menace appears – a saboteur among the factory workers.
Bomb Girl Gladys Witham (Balfour), a fiery young woman from privilege, is covertly recruited by Allied Intelligence to find the traitor on the new line. But she must spy on her best friends, coworkers and fellow agents, calling into question everyone and everything she has come to trust.
Read more on the Shaw Media website.
And here’s an extra special treat that Adrienne Mitchell tweeted today — the Bomb Girls cast back together at last Thursday’s table read. (Thank you, Adrienne!!)
