Are you interested in the coveted title of ‘Bombshell of the Week’, or the awesome prizes we’re offering? Tell us why you think you’re a committed and exceptional Bombshell, and prove to us that you’re putting your shoulder to the wheel.
What does that look like? Well, we can’t just take your word for it. We need you to submit proof of the Victory Mail you’ve sent – at least one e-mail or postcard/letter to each of the networks we’re targeting (CBC, CTV, City, Netflix). You can create proof by making a screenshot and/or taking a photo of your e-mail and/or postcard/letter (must include a date). You then need to e-mail your proof to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to also include the following information in your e-mail:
- Your first name or nickname
- Your age (if you are under 18 you can participate but are not eligible to win prizes)
- Why do you think you should be ‘Bombshell of the Week’?
- Your e-mail address (if different from the one you’re using when you submit)
The weekly submissions are accepted between the following dates:
Week 1: Saturday, Sep 14, 12:00 AM ET to Friday, Sep 20, 11:59 PM ET
Week 2: Saturday, Sep 21, 12:00 AM ET to Friday, Sep 27, 11:59 PM ET
Week 3: Saturday, Sep 28, 12:00 AM ET to Friday, Oct 4, 11:59 PM ET
Anything received outside these dates will not be accepted for the contest. Please only send us one e-mail per week that summarizes all your efforts of that past week.
The Save Bomb Girls jurors will pick the ‘Bombshell of the Week’ winners based on overall presentation, effort, and creativity. The weekly winners will receive a Canadian Season 1 DVD set of Bomb Girls (which is region-free). Each Monday the winner will be individually contacted by e-mail, and we will also announce winners on the Save Bomb Girls website and social media.
Should we receive more than 50 submissions each week, we will put together a randomly chosen subset of 50 submissions, out of which we will choose our ‘Bombshell of the Week’. (Find out why.)
Anyone who sends us a submission for ‘Bombshell of the Week’ enters the draw for our four main prizes (signed script x2, gym bag, signed Tom Tyler novel). If you get picked as our weekly Bombshell, your name gets entered twice in the draw for the four main prizes, which means your chance at winning one of these prizes increases.
The four final winners will be picked at random among all the fans who applied for the ‘Bombshell of the Week’ title. This will be determined on Oct 12, 2013, and winners will be individually contacted by e-mail. You can apply for ‘Bombshell of the Week’ every week, but you can only win the title once.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why can you only pick the ‘Bombshell of the Week’ out of a subset of 50 submissions, and not judge every single one?
A: We’re just fans like you, with a full time job or a busy college schedule, and a real life. We’re a small group of dedicated people, running this website and the Save Bomb Girls campaign on the side, completely voluntarily, without payment or other incentive. Everything we do comes out of our spare time, including judging the submissions. We hope you understand that it’s just logistically not possible to look at more than 50 submissions in two days, and judge the best one. Since we will be picking the subset of 50 randomly, we still hope that we’re treating everyone fairly. And before you ask: Every single submission will be eligible to enter the final draw for the four main prizes, irrespective of whether they were among the subset of 50 chosen entries or not.
Q: Can I enter the contest more than once, and does that increase my chances of winning?
A: Simply put: Yes. You can apply for ‘Bombshell of the Week’ every week, but you need to show us proof every time of having written new e-mail/postcards/letters to the networks (make sure you capture a date on your screenshot/photo). Unless you get picked as ‘Bombshell of the Week’, your name will only be in the final draw once, even if you applied for the title more than once.
Q: ‘Bombshell of the Week’ sounds great, do I win a prize if I get picked?
A: Yes, you do. Our three ‘Bombshells of the Week’ will get a Bomb Girls Season 1 DVD set each. The minimum requirement for entering the draw for the four main prizes is that you send us your information, proof that you’ve sent mail to all the networks, and that you tell us why you think you should be ‘Bombshell of the Week’. If you win the title, your name also gets entered twice in the draw for the four main prizes, which increases your chances of winning one of them. The winners of the four main prizes will be picked at random among all the fans who applied for the ‘Bombshell of the Week’ title.
Q: How will you determine who deserves to be ‘Bombshell of the Week’?
A: A team of Save Bomb Girls jurors will be judging based on originality, effort, creativity, presentation, and overall impression. We will try to be as objective as possible, and can assure you that we will not be favouring fans based on social media interactions or personal relationships.
Q: How should I submit my ‘Bombshell of the Week’ entry?
A: A simple e-mail (in text form) will suffice, but it can also be an audio or a video file where you give us the information we request. If you have other creative ideas, feel free to experiment, but you need to make sure to give us proof of contacting the networks, and to tell us your first name (or nickname), your age, why you think you should be ‘Bombshell of the Week’, and your e-mail address. Don’t send us multiple e-mails in one week. Your name only gets entered once every week, so please also just send one e-mail each week that summarizes all your efforts for that week.
Q: I’m not from Canada, can I watch the Canadian Bomb Girls DVDs in my country?
A: The Canadian Season 1 DVD set is region-free, which means there is no region-code restriction on it and all DVD players should play it.
Q: Are there any cool extras on the DVD set?
A: The Canadian Season 1 DVD set has a 45-minute Behind-the-Scenes feature, episode commentaries for episodes 1×01 (Adrienne Mitchell) and 1×06 (Michael MacLennan), and an original Bomb Girls trailer.
Q: I’d love to participate, but I don’t really want any of the prizes.
A: Holy doodle, you don’t want a prize?! If you win a prize but don’t want it, please let us know at email@example.com and we’ll find a good home for it with a fan who’d love to have it.
Q: I’m not 18 yet, can I still participate?
A: Yes, you may participate but you cannot win a prize if you are under 18.
