Temporary Ceasefire

After a week’s hiatus, your friendly webmaster is back from vacation — ready to resume shift on the VicMu line. Rest assured that behind the scenes, the Save Bomb Girls team is busy plotting our next strike. While we’re getting our hands dirty with the preparations, let us tide you over with pretty pictures to look at.

Bomb Girls Season 2 DVDs released in October

According to amazon.ca, the Canadian season 2 DVD set of Bomb Girls will be released on Oct 8, 2013. It’s now available for pre-order at CDN$34.16, but the price is likely to come down as more people place their pre-orders. Cover art or more details are yet to be revealed. There is said to be one behind-the-scenes extra but no DVD commentaries this time around. A Blu-ray release is not planned.

CdnTVStories Fan Video Contest

Here’s your chance to share your love for Bomb Girls across the airwaves. CdnTVStories has a contest where you can win a DVD package & signed script from a Canadian series. For more details watch the explanatory video on their YouTube channel or see their ‘About’ page.

This is how it works in a nutshell:

Tell us about your favourite Canadian show. You can win a DVD package and a signed script from a Canadian series. A clip of your video might be used in another featuring writers and creators of great Canadian shows, like Rookie Blue, Flashpoint, Lost Girl, and many more.

It’s easy. Just record a video of yourself. Be sure to say your first name, where you’re from and what your favourite Canadian show is. Then tells us a little about why you love the show, who you watch it with, and anything else you want us to know about why it’s your favourite.

And remember, because we might use your clip and post some to a website celebrating great CdnTV, say the title of the show frequently. When your video is done, upload it to YouTube with hashtag #CdnTVStories and then send us the link at CdnTVstories@gmail.com.

Rules: By entering a video, you agree to the rules of the contest and give permission that your video may be excerpted for use in other material. If you are under 18 years of age, please have parent’s permission. One winner will be announced on August 12th, 2013.

Save Bomb Girls at Sail-a-Bration

Yesterday, Aliisa from Save Bomb Girls attended the Ajax Bomb Girls Legacy Campaign Sail-a-Bration dinner event in Oshawa. In the presence of the guests, among them real life Bomb Girls, our $2,200 cheque was ceremoniously handed over to the Ajax campaign. After an introduction of Save Bomb Girls, the Ajax Bomb Girls Legacy Campaign conveyed their gratitude with a short speech and lots of handshakes. We’d like to pass this on to all the fans who helped, because it was largely your generous donations that made all of this possible.

Also in attendance were cast members Charlotte Hegele, Carlyn Burchell, Lisa Norton and Gabe Grey. Aliisa got to meet them, and we have very lovely photos for you below:

Season 1 US DVD Release

Fans in the US have reason to rejoice, according to amazon.com the US version of the season 1 DVD set will come out on September 3. They offer it for pre-order at currently just $17.49. It’s as of yet unclear whether there’s going to be any extras on the DVD set, but we’d go as far as speculating that the extras are either going to be the same or less than on the Canadian set (i.e. two episode commentaries and a 45 min. Behind-the-Scenes feature).

We’d also like to mention the wonderful support we’re getting from cast and crew, as evidenced by their encouraging tweets on Sunday. Thank you so much, we are truly honoured, and will keep doing our best to save the show.

Website update notice:
A whole bunch of stills and other photos have been added to the Image Gallery over the last few days.

Victory Bandanas for Cast and Crew

It’s not only the generous donors that we are sending Victory Bandanas to, Save Bomb Girls also decided to give honorary bandanas to the cast and crew of Bomb Girls as a token of our appreciation of their work.

It’s taken a while, but we can now report that these honorary bandanas have been mailed out and otherwise delivered. A large portion of them went to Back Alley Productions for further distribution to actors and producers, and these were actually personally delivered by our very own and very dedicated Vanessa, a.k.a. VBDubGirl.

And who knows, if we keep your eyes peeled on certain cast and crew Twitter accounts, we may very well get some feedback on our little surprise gift.

Until we roll out our next campaign, please join us at our message board for some fun. Did you know the forum has a live chat function? Why not get a conversation going with fellow fans? We encourage posting of pictures or gifs, links to videos, your own reviews or reviews from others, screencaps of your favourite scenes, your favourite Bomb Girls moments, or whatever else you’d like to share. We’d also like to know if you’re interested in scheduled rewatches with live posting or live chat sessions, or fanart or fan fiction contests, so please cast your vote on the forum.

On a more technical note, you may have noticed that the site looks slightly different. That’s because we’ve switched to WordPress, which offers more functions and is easier to update. We’ve also added a few things, like new image galleries, and a whole section that’s about Bomb Girls – The Show, with plenty of information, photos, videos and lots more. And there’s more to come as we keep adding new content over the next few weeks. We hope you enjoy!
